There's a new bill supposedly in the works that is going to rip apart our world as we know it, as pet owners.

Watch that video; it explains everything. Basically says you can't own or breed anything considered "exotic" which includes parakeets, hamsters, guinea pigs, betta fish, NOTHING of the sort.

What sort of crap is the government doing now?! Please watch and go to the site to speak out against it. Do it for the animals!

From what I read from the actual proposal it's mostly a ban on pet owners. It reads that permits would be distributed to educational/medical, and zoo/aquariums.

The best part was on the fees. Basically the fees come from proposals sent in to include species to the approved/unapproved listings. Sounds too much like an account to dip into for other things cause any "assessment" needed to be done on species has pretty much been done.

I highly doubt it will pass, and it better not, but even if it does all they will have on the "prohibited" list are from other laws already: [link] -- and they don't need to create a list of accepted special until 3 years after it's enactment (what a freaking joke). They should have done the research before even trying to pass the bill, but I bet they are waiting for that funding from fees to easily make a quick buck.

I sure as hell hope it doesn't pass. I mean seriously.. how could they even think that would work? So many people would lose their jobs.. the economy would be in WORSE shape than it is now.

I know that people have fucked up by releasing lots of exotics into the wild. But that's no reason to try and punish everyone because we all know people are retarded.

Yay!

I mean seriously.. the bill is a joke. I don't know how they even thought it could POSSIBLY help anything. People will ALWAYS make bad decisions, and making these animals illegal to even have will only make things worse.
